SpireSage

About SpireSage

Independent, unofficial Slay the Spire 2 companion app. Built by a solo developer. Not affiliated with Mega Crit Games.

Why SpireSage exists

Slay the Spire 2 launched in Early Access and the community immediately needed a mobile reference. Wiki pages are desktop-first and slow to load on phones. Mobalytics covers tier lists but not the full database. Steam patch notes live in a different app. None of this stitches together on a phone while you play.

SpireSage is the tool I wanted while playing: every card, every relic, every boss pattern, searchable in two taps, synced to the latest patch, with an optional AI coach for the harder questions.

How it is built

SpireSage is a React Native app backed by a Next.js API on Oracle Cloud and a Supabase Postgres database with pgvector. The AI coach uses retrieval-augmented generation over verified knowledge chunks sourced from real game data, wiki.gg, Mobalytics community tier ratings, and expert commentary from top players like Jorbs and Baalorlord.

When Mega Crit ships a Slay the Spire 2 patch, a cron job detects it within hours, re-runs the scrapers, re-embeds the new content, and the app picks up fresh data on the next launch. No App Store update required.

Who built this

SpireSage is built by Giandomenico Maggio, a solo developer who has been playing Slay the Spire since the original Early Access in 2017. Background: fullstack engineer with a focus on backend systems, AI pipelines, and mobile apps. This is an independent project, not a studio release.

Feedback goes straight to the developer. Every email is read by a human.
